Cherry Class (Year 1)
Welcome to Cherry class! We are Year 1, we love learning and play!
This year in Cherry class Miss Dawson is class teacher, Mrs Stephenson is with us on a Tuesday afternoon and we are supported by Ms Marsden who is our wonderful teaching assistant.
This year our P.E. days are a Tuesday and a Thursday! We keep our PE kit in school so that we can use it for other activities or if we need to change our PE day.
In Cherry class we have chosen our expectations for the year that reflect our school and Christian values.
These are:
- We will use kind words, kind hands and kind feet
- We will respect others and our classroom
- We will always try our best
In Year 1, it is important that children read every day! They are still developing their phonics, so reading every day can make a huge difference. We also set weekly spelling which match the sounds that our children need to practice. These are given out on a Friday and checked the following Friday. Sometimes there will be other homework that links to our learning in class, however it will be accessible to children to complete independently.
