St Wilfrid’s Sports

Welcome to our page dedicated to celebrating the fantastic sporting achievements of the children at St Wilfrid’s. We are all looking forward to the new academic year and are dedicated to making sure that our children enjoy an active lifestyle. As part of the Government’s funding initiative for school sports we are working on achieving the following 5 key indicators making our provision even more exciting in both curriculum time and after school.

  1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school
  2. The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement
  3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  4. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  5. Increased participation in competitive sport

We believe that P.E. is not simply a lesson which gets taught each week and then the children forget about it until the next. At St Wilfrid’s we know that being physically active every day is so important to the well being and happiness of our pupils.
