Congratulations to Isabel M. Artist Of The Month!

MAKE, BUILD, CREATE

Saturday October 8th was a beautiful sunny autumnal day and yet many pupils and their families came to school to spend an hour or two making stuff!

It was lovely to see such wonderful things being made, built and created!!

A BIG thank you to the wonderful Year 6 “Helping Hands” for their assisting and general enthusiasm!

A super time had by all : )

SUMMER ART CLUB

So Year 6 and Year 5 students have been artists in their own time as they attend Friday after school Art Club.

The inspiration for the work was a piece of artwork given to the school by a local artist called Di McGhee.

This is what she had to say about her artwork –

” A blackbird came to 2 Garden Villas year after year after year. He would rest on a birdtable my Granda made from Cumbrian slate. My grandparent’s garden remains a source of inspiration and I think often of the time they spent tending it. I spent hours drawing the birds and flowers with my Nana.

The flowers in the drawing are special. My Nana planted borders and beds of Livingstone Daisies. At dawn they are tightly closed, as the sun rises they open into glorious colours of sunshine.”

SO watch this space for what we created!!!!!

First thing to do was make lots of observational drawings of blackbirds. Sadly we didnt have a real one in class, so photos of blackbirds had to do!

We used all sorts of drawing materials to work with.

Then some of us were inspired to paint, print, collage or even sculpt!
