Oak Class (Year 6)

Welcome to Year 6: Oak Class

Staff:
Mr S Box – Class Teacher
Ms R Brown – Teaching Assistant
Mr Curwen will be in class on Thursday afternoon as PPA cover.

Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday – please can you ensure that PE kit is in school on these days.

Homework will be set on Friday to be returned to school the following Thursday, typically this will be related to something which we have studied during the week.
Spelling will be tested and set every Friday, we will be using Spelling Bee for this.
A reminder that Times Table Rock Stars is accessible for our children to practice our tables – there will be a times table test on a Friday morning as well.

Our class assembly is early this year – Friday 13th November.

Autumn 1 The Nowhere Emporium – narrative based on a model, information text
Autumn 2 Letters From the Lighthouse- Non Fiction November – writing will connect to our WW2 Evacuee topic
Spring 1 Macbeth – heroes and villains, poems with imagery
Spring 2 Percy Jackson – to tie in with our topic on Ancient Greece
Summer Term The Explorers – will tie in with work on The Rainforest

In year 6 we aim to Increase confidence, independence and responsibility of the children for their learning, learning environment and resources. This is reflected in our care for our learning environment and each other. We also are mindful that we have to work towards SATS in the New Year and prepare the children for the transition to high school.
