WELCOME to Year 4 PINE CLASS!

PE Days – Wednesday afternoons as well as SWIMMING on Thursday afternoons.

Homework Days – Friday’s

Spellings are given each Friday to be tested the following Friday. We study our spellings three times a week using various approaches to recall and understanding, including through handwriting practise.

Key English Units this year – We study an array of texts through the year including The Iron Man by Ted Hughes, Ice Palace by Robert Swindells, Sigurd the Dragon Slayer, Varjak Paw by SF Said as well as Recount writing, Poetry and Non-Fiction projects such as our Wolves Study.

Key Topics in subjects:

Science – Electricity, Sound, States of Matter, Animals including Humans and the Human Digestive System and Living Things and their Habitats.

RE – David and the Psalms, Christmas Light, Hanukah, Jesus, the Son of God, Easter – Betrayal and Trust, Are all churches the same? And What is prayer?

History – Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings

Geography – Settlements and Land Use, Map reading skills and River studies.

Art – Storytelling through Drawing, Observational drawing of Artefacts, Artist study – The Life and Works of Barbara Hepworth as well as project clay-work and landscape painting.

DT – Electrical Circuit Ornament construction, Sewing – Purse making and Cooking – Quiche making.
